Bede attained a first class degree from the University of Manchester in 2013 and was awarded a BBSRC studentship to develop computational approaches for characterising viral populations. Under the supervision of David L. Robertson, he established fruitful interdisciplinary collaborations with the Virus Reference Department at Public Health England and the Horizon 2020 CURE asthma project.

Bede successfully defended his doctoral thesis in late 2017 having published in the fields of microbial ecology, virus evolution, genome assembly and text mining.

Bede joins our group as a postdoctoral research fellow in computational molecular evolution.
